About the LabelOra Recordings is a Montreal based net label set up by Dj/Producer Gabriel Batz. The label's main focus is to release hi-quality electronic dance music.
Established in the fall of 2007, the label initially began as a platform for releasing Gabriel Batz productions and mixes. But with every quality demo he received, he just couldn't say no. He felt the need to introduce new talented producers to the world.
Although Ora Recordings is primarily a progressive trance based label it is open to numerous styles. Our goal is to release and promote quality tunes. From melodic progressive house to dark tech-trance to chillout, there are simply no limits to Ora Recordings. We believe all good music should be heard.
The label is not just about releasing good music. It's aim is to present a specific esthetic theme to each release. Thus giving a more personal and artistic essence to the music. We believe that good music merits a good presentation.
About Gabriel Batz2005 marked the introduction of a talented Canadian, from Guatemalan descent, new comer to the electronic dance music scene, Gabriel Batz.
Originating from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Gabriel Ernesto Batz-Hernandez opted for a career as a professional tennis player, but his love for the game of tennis was quickly replaced and pushed aside by his other passion: music.
As long as he can remember, music has played an essential part in his life. Raised by deep melodic new age music, it is electronic dance music that captured his heart the most. From a very early age, his father introduced him to ambient and atmospheric music, styles that would eventually shape Gabriel Batz's ear and vision to what music should. He would listen for hours to his father's vast collection of records on old belt-driven Technics turntables. At that time, he started to DJ and felt that making people dance was way more.
His admiration for dance floor driven baselines, progressive house, techno and atmospheric breaks soon led him to the studio where he discovered his own unique style. His sound can be described as a fresh, sophisticated blend of looped rhythms, deep melodies, hypnotic grooves and pounding progressive electro baselines.
Gabriel Batz's initial bootleg remix of 'The World Is Mine' by David Guetta received enthusiastic responses from many Global DJ Broadcast audiences and provoked Markus Schulz to personally contact and comment on the quality of his remix. Markus Schulz wasted no time in commissioning Batz to remix Attention Deficit's track 'What?' for his label Coldharbour Recordings.
This slowly led to the signing of more productions to numerous record labels such as Armin Van Buuren's Armada Music label, Markus Schulz's Coldharbour Recordings label and M.I.K.E.'s Club Elite Recordings label. In addition, his music has garnered international support from some of the world's top producers and DJ's. His tracks have found their way onto the playlists of global artists such as Tiesto, Above & Beyond, Armin Van Buuren, Andy Moor, Ferry Corsten, Markus Schulz and Paul Oakenfold.
In 2007, Gabriel Batz produced 'Inner Touch' which became his first hit single. Signed to UK label Monster Tunes, Mike Shiver provided the remix for Batz's first vocal track. Upon it's release, 'Inner Touch' received positive reviews, was voted track of the week on Above & Beyond's 'Trance Around The World' radio show and reached the top 10 of Beatport's Trance Chart.
Later during the same year, Gabriel founded his own label Ora Recordings. The label is Batz's main outlet to release his own music. It also focuses on releasing high quality electronic dance music from artists around the globe.
Currently with more than a 100 released productions and remixes, Gabriel Batz has a very promising future ahead of him. With more productions and remixes already in the works for the new year, you can listen for a deeper refined sound from Gabriel Batz who will continue to grow and thrive in the music industry.
Gabriel Batz hosts a weekly radio show 'Reves Numeriques' exclusively on ETN.FM. He also hosts a monthly radioshow 'Montreal Mix Sessions' exclusively on DI.FM. Both shows showcase his new productions as well as the sound of his label Ora Recordings.
